Love this
And I wonder why it took me so long.
I've been using Canning Jars for a year now to put almost everything in. Nuts, Seeds, Amaranth, Quinoa, etc. but I wanted to buy some in bulk & wanted to make certain they would stay even fresher so I purchased the large & smaller jar sealers.
The 1st time I used this, I wasn't certain if & how it would work - Until a month later & I had a hard time removing the lid - because of the suction this sealer had given the jar.
(If you don't know, just leave the top lid on the jar - & not use the screw-on rim lid. - I do put the rim lid on just as a precaution - even when I've canned.)
Amazing is all I can say.

Works well with handheld sealing systems, too!
I bought the wide-mouth jar sealer for use with my handheld vacuum sealing system (I wasn't sure it would work since the website doesn't indicate its compatibility with the handheld systems). You don't need a tube or attachment; you just place the mouth of the handheld device directly against the sealer. When the jar and lid are clean, I always get it working on the first time. The only difficulty I have had is in removing the lid from the jar. I use the spoon method, and I have gotten better at this over the past month. However, I have had a few spills when first starting out. This is a sign that the sealer is doing what it's meant to!

Can't get it to seal!!
I got the large mouth and regular size jar sealers, and was so happy! The large mouth works like a dream, but I was only ONCE able to get a seal with the regular size jar sealer, and I tried and tried and tried, no go. It simply refuses to seal. I thought it was perhaps me or it was defective, but reading the other reviews find it has also been the case with some other people. I will try using two lids at a time as someone suggested.....so we will see. Otherwise, I love Food Saver, the machine works perfectly well and it is from 2007, the large mouth jar seal works wonderfully, but not so the regular size, I wonder what the problem is?

A must have!
I cannot live without these jar sealers. Refrigerated items are good up to 3 weeks, dry foods seem like forever. We purchase in bulk at the warehouse stores and use our Food Saver for everything we can. Get the large sour cream, shredded cheeses, grated cheeses, soups, etc. and I fill the size jar I want and good for weeks. Where as you by that large sour cream and once you open mold seems to be growing in a week. Not when you jar it up in smaller portions. I use all sizes of the Ball Mason jars. I also use for nuts, rice, bacon pieces, tea bags, coffee, dried fruit, herbs, spices, mayo, I could go on and on and on. Basically I am a Food Saver geek!

I've had problems
I already had the wide mouth sealer and never had one problem sealing jars. However, it has been a different story with the regular size. I get very aggravated trying to use it. I have changed jars, used new lids (instead of re-using old ones) and still have problems. I have had less trouble using 2 lids, but it still gives me problems sometimes. I was also told to put the lids in boiling water (taking the pot off the burner when the water boils) and letting them soak. This also seems to help but I can't count on getting the job done every time. I never had one minute of trouble with the wide mouth one so can't understand why I have a problem with this one.

Works easily and beautifully
I absolutely love this mason jar sealer. I wish I had bought one many years ago - it would have saved me tons of produce and increased the amount of veggies I was eating. I continue to be amazed by how great this works. My cut celery looks as good as the day it went in, even 2 weeks later. I seal a whole week's worth of salads and they never brown. I have found the jars seem to get too cold for pre-sliced or cut tomatoes, but everything else has kept well. I would recommend this to anyone who is currently tossing veggies gone bad. My friend uses it to seal just about everything she can think of from nuts to (frozen) soup.

Jar sealer review
I read of many people having problems with the small mouth jar sealer not sealing properly. Mine didn't work right either the first time I used it. I did the following and it works perfectly. I used a food grade lubricant on the rubber seal on the sealer. Just a drop, then wiped it off with a paper towel. Then make sure the sealer is on straight, Twist the jar while holding a little pressure on the sealer. Place the jar on a flat surface, hook up the vacuum line, start the machine while holding pressure on the sealer. The small amount of food grade lube helps seal it and makes it easier to get on and off. Fantastic product.

This is the quickest way to keep dry goods
I have had a food saver for years. I would recommend it to every person who wants to save money. It freezes in bags that keep your
Food till ready to thaw and use.
I love the way you can fix salads sans dressing for a week. The fruit in season will last a Couple of weeks. Best of all I love the fact that I can dry seal, flours, rice, beans of all kinds, pastas, nuts, chocolates, sugars, nuts, silverware, candies, powdered milk, valuable documents and just about anything you need to keep dry. Use the sealed jars, using the amount you need and resealing again.
I can't say enough about not wasting, saving time, usable products that are a seal away . Thanks
